Greater Dayton RTA will resume collecting bus fares Wednesday once the system’s “pay what you want” period ends Tuesday.

RTA issued a system-wide alert Monday to remind customers to bring their fares when riding Wednesday.

The system enacted the “pay what you want” period following the strike that shut down bus and trolley service for four days earlier this month. Proceeds from the “pay what you want” period will go to Foodbank Dayton.

“This support will be used to provide dinner for thousands of families across our community who would otherwise go without,” said Foodbank Dayton CEO Michelle Riley in a statement earlier this month. “The Foodbank is grateful for the partnership of the Greater Dayton RTA.”
