Deputies were dispatched around 2:20 a.m. to the 1200 block of South Lutheran Church Road after a caller reported a car had hit a power pole, caught fire and the driver stumbled out and fell to the ground.

Deputies said the driver of the car was picked up by someone in another vehicle and they left the scene before emergency crews arrived on scene.

Firefighters arrived to the car fully engulfed in flames, but unoccupied, and the fire was extinguished by crews from the Jefferson Township and Trotwood fire departments.

A subsequent investigation led deputies to discover that the registered owner of the car had reported it stolen. It was determined that the owner was indeed the driver who crashed the car and was intoxicated.

She suffered no visible injuries but was taken to a local hospital for examination.

Deputies did not identify the woman and it was not known if she would face any charges.

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate this incident.
