REPORT: Counterfeit bills received in Facebook Marketplace deal

A Riverside resident received "funny money" while trying to sell a video game console to an individual he met online, according to Dayton police reports.

The victim reportedly went to an Edison Street resident around 11 p.m. Sunday to sell his Sony PlayStation 4 to a contact met through Facebook Marketplace.

The suspect gave the Riverside male what appeared to be three $100 bills in exchange for the video game console and returned to his vehicle, according to the report.

Upon further inspection, the suspect reportedly realized the money was counterfeit. He did not feel safe confronting the suspect and left before calling police, read the report.

The counterfeit bills had "For Motion Picture Purposes" printed on the back and front of the bills, and they all had the same serial number, MP10033014P, according to the report.
