A member of Hayden’s family spoke out for the first time to News Center 7’s Caroline Reinwald on July 26.
“This is a very tragic accident. It’s affected our whole family,” Nicole Hardin said of her young nephew who nearly drowned.
At that time, Hayden was on life support at Dayton Children’s Hospital. He had swelling on his brain, she said.

“It’s heartbreaking. It’s devastating. It’s going to change their family forever,” Hardin said.
Hayden’s aunt described him as a vivacious young boy before the accident.
“He’s just your typical 3-year-old, full of life, sweet little boy,” she said.
Hayden drowned on his older brother’s 9th birthday. Hayden’s brother found him in the pool.
“He pulled him from the pool, got his parents, his mom did CPR,” Hardin said.
By the time medics arrived ... and got Hayden to the hospital ... he had been without oxygen for about 20 minutes.
“The family just needs all the support that they can get right now,” Hardin said.
The accident
A woman who identified herself as Hayden’s mother posted a request for prayers for her young son on her Facebook page:
“I know God has a plan for my child. I don’t know what it is yet, so I’m trying to be patient,” Brandi Stoll posted about her son. “The love from family and friends, even strangers is building.
“From Chuck and I, thank you all for all the love, support and prayers,” she said. “Please keep them going!”
Police said family members found the 3-year-old boy unresponsive in the pool and called emergency dispatchers.
The child was not breathing when he was taken to the hospital, Huber Heights police Sgt. Charles Taylor said.
“At the time the child was unresponsive, the medics did remove that child immediately and started treatment there,” Taylor said.
