Smoke fills Dayton Mall store after HVAC unit malfunctions

UPDATE (Jan. 22) @ 3 a.m: A malfunctioning HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) unit caused smoke to fill one of the stores  inside the Dayton Mall Monday afternoon.

Miami Valley Fire District crews were dispatched to the business, which is believed to be a hair and beauty salon, around 4:15 p.m.

Regional Dispatch said the unit had smoke coming out of it.

Initial reports indicate the smoke affected Sweet Sensations Chocolates and Candy as well.

There were no reports of injury.
