Victim ID’d in deadly crash on I-75 in Troy involving semi, car

UPDATE @ 10:37 a.m. (Aug. 27): A man killed in a crash involving a semitrailer and car on Interstate 75 North near state Route 55 has been identified.

Zackery Schwausch, 20, of Troy, died of blunt force trauma to the head, said the Miami County Coroner’s Office.

UPDATE @ 6:50 p.m.: At least one person has been confirmed dead in the accident on I-75 North involving a semitrailer and a car directly under the state Route 55 overpass.

The victim is a male and the preliminary investigation reveals that the driver failed to stop for an accident up ahead on the interstate. The victim’s car came to rest underneath the semitrailer.

That other accident has since been cleared.

The northbound lanes have been shut down until further notice. All northbound traffic is being directed off the interstate at state Route 55, then is being allowed back onto the instate from the on-ramp from 55.

INITIAL REPORT

We are hearing reports of an accident involving a semi and a vehicle on I-75 North in the area of state Route 55.

The incident was reported around 5:55 p.m.

We have a crew on the way and are working to learn more.
