An 18-year-old woman is in critical condition after a crash where she was thrown from the vehicle.

Troopers clocked a car driven by Terry Woods III, 18, at 77 mph on U.S. 35 in Greene County around 2 a.m., said Trooper Sheldon Goodrum.  The trooper attempted to catch up to Woods’ car, but Woods sped up to 122 mph, which led to the trooper pulling off the attempted traffic stop, Goodrum said.

A short time later Woods’ car was found crashed in the area of U.S. 68 and U.S. 35 with him trapped inside and his passenger, Hope Toennisson, 18, thrown from the car, Goodrum said.

Both Toennisson and Woods were taken to Miami Valley Hospital to be treated for their injuries, the patrol added.  Woods was no longer a patient Friday afternoon and Toennisson was in critical condition, a spokeswoman for the hospital said.

Goodrum said any charges or citations in the case are still pending.
