“I’m no hero,” he said. “Please don’t call me that. I’m just a compassionate human being, but there were a whole bunch of compassionate people that day.”
That morning Frazier saw the 4-year-old run across Bigger Road and then onto Thomas Paine Parkway. That’s when he stopped the bus and opened the door.
“The child literally jumped up on the bus,” Frazier said. “[He] ran to the back of the bus as if he was a paying customer.”
At first Frazier was in shock.

Then he radioed to his dispatch, who then contacted Centerville police.
“It bothered me,” Frazier said. “I was so fearful that somebody might not see this child crossing. It’s a busy highway.”
A painter doing work on an apartment complex had left a gate open, which allowed the boy to escape.
No charges have been filed. Frazier said the managers of The Woods of Centerville and police department deserve just as much credit as he does.

“Kudos to the Centerville Police Department because the professionalism that I witnessed from those individual police officers, I believe there were two that showed up, was outstanding to me.”
Frazier’s been driving for 21 years and said that morning ranks as his number one day on the job.
