RTA DRIVERS’ STRIKE: AAA cautions drivers about increased cars on road

Drivers need to be aware to an increased number of cars on roads due to the Greater Dayton RTA drivers’ and mechanics’ strike, according to AAA.

“AAA encourages public transit commuters and motorists to plan ahead and be prepared,” said Cindy Antrican, AAA public affairs manager, in a written statement.

“Contingency commuting plans will be key for all those directly affected by the RTA strike,” she said. “Motorists should also be prepared for much heavier traffic in and around downtown Dayton.”

AAA provided these tips for commuters on the roads:

• Work with employers for alternate transportation plans or remote working options.

• Consult co-workers for car pool options.

• Consult local Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission about ridesharing options.

• Allow extra time for morning and evening commutes.

• Make sure you have a full tank of gas before heading out in the event there are significant delays.

• If possible, avoid peak commute hours.
