Slick conditions overnight; bitter cold to end the week

Darke County is under a Level 1 Snow Emergency until further notice.

“A Level One Snow Advisory means all roadways are hazardous. Caution should be used if travel is necessary,” a sheriff’s office spokesperson said in a media release.  “Travel is not being limited at this time; however, blowing and drifting snow is causing some roadways to become slick and hazardous.”

DETAILED FORECAST 

Overnight: Snow showers are creating slick roads between Dayton and Cincinnati. Drivers should travel with caution. Gusty winds also are creating blowing and drifting snow, Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist McCall Vrydaghs said. Winds may still gust as high as 20 to 25 mph through sunset. Overnight lows dip to the upper teens with chills briefly dipping into the single digits in spots. Refreeze is possible on any snow-covered roads, especially in the northern Miami Valley.

Friday: Mostly cloudy, cold and breezy. Slight chance of more flurries or a passing snow shower south of Dayton around midday to early afternoon. Little to no accumulation is expected. Temperatures will reach highs around 30 degrees, but feel like the teens and 20s throughout the afternoon. Quiet and cold into Friday night with temperatures falling back into the teens with wind chills in the single digits

Saturday: Temperatures start in the teens before rising to highs in the lower 30s. Skies will be partly cloudy, but it will still be breezy.

Sunday: After a dry and cold morning, morning sun will give way to clouds. Highs for the day in the lower to middle 50s. Rain showers return at night.

Monday: It will be breezy and mild with highs in the middle 50s. Cloudy conditions with scattered showers are expected before steadier rain arrives into the night.

Tuesday: Cloudy skies remain with occasional rain showers. It will still be breezy and mild with highs in the middle to upper 50s.
