“We will hire as many as needed to fill all routes, including those that were reduced,” Superintendent David Vail said in an email.
“Students and parents can expect these issues to last until we can hire enough drivers to cover all routes that we originally had and will reinstate routes if and when we can,” he added.

The district has three open contracted permanent positions and at least five more substitute slots it needs to fill, said Mechael Reed, transportation supervisor for the district, which includes most of Miami Twp. and part of German Twp.
The pay for substitute bus drivers is $14.20 per hour and contracted drivers start at $18.23 an hour, Reed said. The district is offering paid training for contracted drivers, according to an advertisement.
Miamisburg has dealing with bus driving vacancies for months, Reed said.
“Routes were eliminated one week before the start of school and after the start of school routes have been combined to reduce the number of drivers needed.,” she said.
