I-70 east reopens in Clark County after semi fire

UPDATE @ 2:10 p.m.: 

All lanes of Interstate 70 reopened around 2 p.m. after an earlier semi fire.

UPDATE @ 12:35 p.m.:

The left shoulder of Interstate 70 east has been opened for traffic to get through the scene of a semi fire near the Ohio 41 exit in Clark County.

Lanes on the highway remain blocked while crews remain at the scene. It was not immediately known when the lanes might reopen.

The semi driver told state troopers he heard a noise and pulled over moments before the cab became engulfed in flames. The driver and his dog were able to get out of the cab safely.

Westbound lanes of Interstate 70 have reopened, but eastbound lanes remain closed for a semi fire near the Ohio 41 exit.

Westbound lanes were originally closed due to smoke.

FIRST REPORT

Both directions of Interstate 70 are shut down while crews battle a semi fire near the Ohio 41 exit in Clark County, according to state troopers.

The fire was reported around noon at the 59 mile marker, near the exit to Ohio 41.
