The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office’s CCW department will be by appointment only until further notice to help limit possible exposure to the coronavirus.

Services by appointment only, effective at 4 p.m. today, include applying for and renewing a concealed carry permit and background checks at the sheriff’s office headquarters, 345 W. Second St., Dayton.

Fingerprint cards and foreclosure payments will be suspended until further notice, and the property room hours are 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays until further notice.

“We will continue to consult with Public Health and other officials to assess the rapidly evolving impact of the virus,” Sheriff Rob Streck said in a release. “By moving to appointment only for CCW and suspending other services, we will be able to minimize foot traffic and possible exposure to the coronavirus.”

Also, the sheriff's office asks that residents fill out the CCW application forms ahead of their appointment. The application is on the Ohio Attorney General's Office website.

The CCW department will continue to process applications and will mail completed permits to applicants.

To request an appointment, contact the CCW department at 937-225-5005.
