Homicide detectives are asking the public to help police generate leads and suspect information in the killing of a 24-year-old Dayton man in the parking lot of a Dayton social club.

Police tell News Center 7’s Mike Campbell they don’t have any answers and neither do relatives of Javon Jones. All the family knows is that whoever shot and killed Jones left two children, ages 1 year and 3 years old, without a father.
This afternoon, News Center 7 learned from city building inspectors that the doors to the social club, called the Blue Room, should not have been open because there is no valid occupancy permit.
“From my understanding, he never made it inside the club,” said his older sister, Krianna Chapman. “I hope justice is served.”
Police and a medic unit were dispatched to the 100 block of North James H. McGee Boulevard around 3 a.m. after callers to 911 reported the shooting. Jones died at the scene, according to investigators.
"We need an ambulance immediately, a guy shot in the chest," one 911 caller told dispatchers. "He's got one in the face also."

Additional officers were requested to the scene for crowd control because, authorities said, some in a large group of people were screaming in reaction to the shooting.
“Everybody get back, get back. Give them some room so they can do their job,” the same 911 caller told people on scene.
