>> Grand jury charges woman whose grandmother was found in rubber tub
The “officer needs assistance” call, known as a “signal 99,” was made not long after the dispatch for shots fired was made about 8:45 p.m. A “signal 99” means every available police officer of any jurisdiction is to go immediately to the scene of the dispatch.
A BOLO (Be On The Lookout) issued via police scanner traffic indicated that police weren’t sure whether the shots were meant for police officers on scene.
A male gunshot victim was later dropped off at Grandview Medical Center about 9 p.m., but police are not sure that person has anything to do with what happened on Shenandoah Drive.
The gunshot victim, who was delivered to the hospital in a white four-door van that sped off, told medical personnel he was wounded in an alley behind Salem Avenue and was picked up when he was seen walking. Police are looking into that claim, we're told.
