SICSA rescued 30 dogs and cats from a North Carolina town that was beginning to flood from Hurricane Dorian.

The 11 dogs and 19 cats arrived around 1 a.m. Friday at the SICSA Pet Adoption Center in Kettering.

Within 24 hours of receiving a call from the Best Friends Animal Society, SICSA mobilized to take three vehicles to meet a rescue group in West Virginia. The animals traveled from North Carolina to Lexington, Virginia, and then to Charleston, W.Va.

“SICSA is very proud to be able to come to the aid of these animals and the communities in need. We will continue to help in any way we can,” Nora Vondrell, SICSA’s president and CEO said.

Those able to assist with the associated costs are encouraged to at the rescue's website.

Some animals will be available or adoption within the next week at SICSA.
