The AIA complex is a 600,000-plus square foot facility with synthetic turf surfaces for baseball, football, soccer and softball, according to its website.
Sinclair’s AIA lease expired last year and “a decision was made to seek a new venue,” according to Deena John, Sinclair public relations coordinator.
Rice Field is a 34-acre athletic complex near the Great Miami River Trail.

“This partnership has potential to benefit both organizations, giving Miamisburg baseball and softball league participants an opportunity to cheer for a hometown college and expose youth to college level opportunities,” a memo from Miamisburg Parks and Recreation Director Kelsey Whipp states.
An ordinance set to be considered tonight by Miamisburg City Council would allow an agreement for Sinclair to pay $7,900 to have games and practices on Field #3, records show.
The Sinclair agreement would be for two, 10-week periods this spring and fall, according to the proposal.
The softball team would have exclusive rights to Field #3 on the nine-diamond fenced complex, city records show. Under the proposed agreement, the city would:
•Maintain the field and surrounding park amenities. The city would “drag and line the infield skin” for games;

•Schedule “all Sinclair activities at the property as a first priority;”
•Ensure “no other party shall be permitted to use the field without written consent of Sinclair” during each 10-week period outlined in the agreement.
In turn, Sinclair would:
•Require criminal background checks for SCC workers at the property, consistent with school’s policy;
•Allow the city “the right to review and approve” all sponsors and sponsor signage installed at the field’
•Agree to provide two softball-related events at the property, and provide volunteer service by SCC softball players and coaches with the city’s parks and rec department.
The team began its spring season last month with a series of games in Georgia and Tennessee. Its home opener is scheduled for March 14 with a double header against Jamestown Community College.
The home schedule includes 22 games – all double headers – that are set to conclude April 28 against Edison Community College.
