3 sites under consideration for new Montgomery County Fairgrounds

Montgomery County Agricultural Society officials are exploring three potential locations for the new county fairgrounds, the Dayton Daily News has confirmed.

The society is conducting an online survey of the three sites to gauge stakeholder interest. Only one site — Arthur Fischer Park in Jefferson Twp. — is disclosed. The other two sites in the survey are referenced generally as located in Germantown and near Needmore Road and Old Troy Pike.

The survey asks stakeholders if they would “continue to support the fair” if relocated to each location.

Montgomery County, the City of Dayton and the Montgomery County Agricultural Society have agreed in principle to a deal to sell the Montgomery County Fairgrounds to the University of Dayton and Premier Health. for more than 150 years, horses were raced here. “They’re more areas that we’re looking at than anything necessarily specific, to kind of get an idea east of (Interstate) 75 and west of 75 if people would support us if we looked at these locations,” said Greg Wallace, the fair’s executive director. “We just wanted to see a sense of the fair’s supporters and what they wanted.”

The new sites come as locations in Vandalia and Huber Heights fell through in recent weeks.
