In a press release, the city said: “Mayor Warren Copeland, Vice Mayor Joyce Chilton, City Commissioners Kevin O’Neill, David Estrop and Rob Rue, along with City Manager Bryan Heck and all those who serve the Springfield community, send their deepest condolences to Mr. Floyd’s loved ones during this difficult time and their profound grief.”

City officials used a livestream video on Friday to condemn racism, and to call for continued unity and partnership in Springfield and other communities.
Some community groups planned an event at 3 p.m. Sunday in downtown Springfield, but additional details were not immediately available.
