A husband and wife from Springfield allegedly stole thousands of dollars from an older Ohio woman over a period of several years, according to a release from Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine.

A Clark County grand jury has indicted Deborah and Dwight Stutzman, ages 64 and 68, on charges of theft with a specification that the victim of the offense is an elderly or disabled adult, according to the release.

The alleged victim is a 90-year-old woman and the indictments stem from an investigation by the Health Care Fraud Section of the attorney general’s office.

Investigators say Deborah Stutzman, the victim's power-of-attorney, and her husband stole between $7,500 and $37,500 from the victim and spent the money on personal expenses not related to the victim’s care, according to the release.

The Clark County Prosecutor’s Office will try the case.
