Springfield gun range customer wounded in accidental shooting, police say

A customer at the Mad River Armory and Range in Springfield shot himself in the leg Wednesday evening in what is being investigated as an accident, police said.

Police were dispatched to the range, 309 E. Leffel Lane, about 7:15 p.m. on a report of a shooting.

The man, whose name and age were not immediately available, was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center, then flown to Miami Valley Hospital by helicopter, police said.

A person who answered the phone at the range declined comment.
