There are nearly a half a million flooded vehicles back in use in the U.S. and up to 25,000 of them are in Ohio, according to new Carfax data.

A vehicle impacted by flooding may have mechanical and electrical problems that may not be readily apparent and many shady sellers will go to great lengths to hide flood damage, according to consumer experts.

There has also been a 47 percent jump in these potentially dangerous cars making it back on the roadways after the major hurricanes, including hurricanes Harvey and Irma in 2017, the Carfax research showed.

News center 7 consumer reporter Rachel Murray will show you the danger involved and how to spot a flooded vehicle today on WHIO-TV at 5 p.m.
