The TCSU involves Centerville, Germantown, Kettering, Miamisburg, Moraine, Oakwood, Springboro and West Carrollton, according to its website.
The SWAT unit’s training today and Wednesday will involve two vacant homes at 402-403 S. Elm St., police said.

“This location provides an opportunity for the SWAT Team to conduct training that involves many of the potential situations that they could encounter in the field,” according to police. “Being able to train in a realistic environment is extremely important in maintaining the necessary skills of the team members.”
The homes are set to be demolished the following week as part of the West Carrollton Elm Street bridge construction project, according to the city.
All training will take place during daylight hours, according to the city.

The TCSU “has evolved to the point that cities are sharing personnel and equipment in very specialized ways,” the unit’s website states.
“While it may not be economically feasible or prudent for a single agency to have specialized services and equipment, collectively we have been able to build an infrastructure of interagency cooperation that allows us to achieve significant tax savings for citizens of TCSU cities”
A SWAT unit was formed years ago by the Kettering Police Department. Other south suburban cities later joined under the auspices of TCSU to add manpower and spread costs, according to the unit’s website.
