Target store back open after small natural gas leak found

SUGARCREEK TWP., Greene County — The Sugarcreek Target store at 4341 Feedwire Road has re-opened after being evacuated and closed for about an hour for investigation of a natural gas leak.

The Sugarcreek Twp. Police dispatch said the Sugarcreek Twp. Fire Department found a small natural gas leak and shut everything off and cleared the area before allowing store employees and then customers back into the store.

A store employee said the leak was in the store’s food service area, but no official word has come from the fire department or store at this point in time. The store manager’s office said any comment on the matter would have to come from their corporate headquarters.

A customer’s report of the smell of natural gas at the store shortly before 11 a.m. today, Oct. 30, caused the evacuation of the store as a precautionary measure.

Sugarcreek Twp. firefighters responded to investigate the leak. They could not be reached for further information at this time.
