Threat under investigation at Central State University; some classes canceled

Police are investigating a threat reported at Central State University just before 9 a.m. Friday, a university official said.

The threat was called into the Newsom administration building on Brush Row Road, according to a campus alert sent out of students, faculty and staff just before 10:30 a.m.

“As a precaution the following buildings have been evacuated: Newsom, Wesley and Robeson,” the alert read. “These buildings will remain closed until authorities give the university the all clear.”

Morning classes were in Wesley and Robeson have been canceled for today.

“Affected students should return to their residential halls,” the alert read.

Staff access to the Newsom administration building was restored shortly after 11:30 a.m., according to a university spokesperson.

No injuries have been reported.

Central State followed normal protocol to secure campus once the threat was reported, a university spokesperson said.

Once given the all clear from police the university will resume campus activities as normal.
