LIBERTY TWP. — More people means more dirty laundry.
Tide Dry Cleaners opened July 27, the third dry cleaner to open in Liberty Twp. the past year. The strategic location for Tide, 6842 Liberty Plaza Drive, feeds off Starbucks and Kroger and sits next to Cincinnati-Dayton Road, a busy thoroughfare that connects homes to the highway, said owner Ray D’Alonzo.
D’Alonzo is the first new franchisee since Procter & Gamble announced its national expansion of the dry cleaning business in September of last year, Ross Holthouse, P&G spokesman, said.
Even though there are plenty of competitors, D’Alonzo, of Blue Ash, says Liberty Twp.’s growing population, location and average income can handle them all.
“Of all the ones that were available, we thought this one was the best [location] because of its demographics, the traffic count on Cincinnati-Dayton Road and the potential for future growth,” D’Alonzo said.
Last year, P&G reached out to its ranks of retirees for business partners on Tide Dry Cleaners. D’Alonzo, who retired from P&G after 31 years, saw it as an opportunity to build a business for his family. Dominic D’Alonzo, Ray’s son, and Rick DeAngelis, his son-in-law, co-own and operate the business day-to-day.
“We are talking about building one or two more stores. We want to see how this one does before we make that decision,” Ray D’Alonzo said.
P&G first introduced the Tide service business in 2008 with a pilot location in Kansas City and opened a corporate store in Mason last year.
