The pickup truck found crashed into a tree on Airway Road in Riverside moments before a man stole a Riverside police cruiser is connected to a stabbing on Xenia Avenue in Dayton, according to records.

Within a span of approximately 22 minutes, the stabbing, Airway Road crash, stolen Riverside cruiser and deadly crash outside of Dayton Metro Library’s Third Street campus were investigated.

TIMELINE OF EVENTS (times pulled from dispatch traffic transmissions):

  • 7:08 p.m.: Surveillance video from building on Xenia Avenue shows violent struggle in black Chevrolet pickup. A man exits the pickup and the pickup drives off

  • 7:11 p.m.: Dayton police respond to man covered in blood in 100 block of Xenia Avenue.
  • 7:13 p.m.: Medic requested to area of Xenia Avenue and McClure Street for stabbing victim.
  • 7:14 p.m.: Riverside police receive multiple calls of a crash on Airway Road involving black pickup crashed into tree.
