Passenger ID’d as victim of deadly Ohio 4 crash near Mechanicsburg

The identity of the passenger who was killed in a crash on Ohio 4 Wednesday morning has been released.

Derrick White of West Liberty, Ohio, was killed at the scene of the single-vehicle crash reported around 10:50 a.m. in the 9400 block near Mechanicsburg, the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement Wednesday evening.

The driver, Kayla Davis-Woods, of Marysville, was headed north on Ohio 4 in a red Nissan when she crossed the center line, continued off the roadway and struck a tree.

Davis-Woods was taken to a hospital by CareFlight. Her condition was unknown, according to the sheriff’s office.

Ohio 4 was closed in both directions while officials investigated the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s and coroner’s offices.
