“There are no words that can express our grief over the loss of Kimra,” said Col. Richard Fambro. “We are forever grateful for her service and sacrifice.”

The crash was reported around 6:45 a.m.

Skelton was parked in a crossover on I-75 just north of Ohio 41 when her vehicle was hit, the patrol said.

Her vehicle was hit by a red Ford F-250 driven by Christopher G. Coorough, 44, of Kettering.

Coorough had minor injuries and was taken to the Kettering Health’s Troy Hospital, troopers said.

An Ohio Department of Transportation employee was one of the first people on the scene and called 9-1-1 for help.

Skelton, who was pronounced dead at the scene, had been a member of the patrol since October 2005. She is survived by her husband and two children.
