Trotwood’s only full-service grocery store, Foodtown, closed Sunday night.

“Thank you so much to our local customers,” the grocery store posted on Facebook.

Foodtown owner Jim Davis had said he was closing the Tipp City and Trotwood locations because they are not profitable.

No closing date has been set for Tipp City, an employee said Sunday.

Other Foodtown stores at 1010 Wapakoneta Ave. in Sidney and 6122 W. Third Street in Drexel will remain open.

When the news was first reported late August, Davis said at the time he had been talking to people about potentially buying the inventory and taking over.
