The driver, believed to be in his 20s, was in the Chevrolet Silverado when police arrived sometime after 1 a.m. at the house,in the 12,000 block of Westbrook Road near Arlington Road. Littleton said the truck hit the front of the house near the garage and continued into the garage, where it caused major damage to the vehicle inside.

Police took the driver, who appeared to be intoxicated, to Miami Valley Hospital North. His condition was not known and he is not in custody, the chief said Monday afternoon.

There was a family in the house. None was injured, he said.

Littleton said speed also appeared to be a factor based on the preliminary investigation, which includes statements from a Brookville police officer who reported seeing the truck “being driven pretty quickly” through the neighborhood, the chief said.

A second Brookville police officer reported hearing the crash, the chief said. Both officers were on routine patrol at the time, the chief said.
