The driver, Paul Sweda, 47, of Union was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sweda was not wearing a seat belt while travelling westbound on state Route 722. He veered off the road and struck a tree.
This is Darke County's first fatal accident of 2020, the sheriff's office stated in a release.
The crash remains under investigation by the Darke County Coroner’s and Sheriff's offices.
