Vandalia Police Chief Douglas Knight says it’s time to retire. CONTRIBUTED.

Police Chief Douglas Knight of the Vandalia Police Department has announced his plans to retire.

The chief has served for more than 37 years for the city in a law enforcement career that has extends more than 46 years.

He has contributed greatly to the division’s positive reputation in the region and in the city, according to Communications Director Rich Hopkins.

Knight’s official date of retirement begins June 1.
