VANDALIA – The City Council approved changes to the fee structure at the Vandalia Recreation Center, 1111 Stonequarry Rd., during a recent meeting.

The Recreation Center has always worked on admissions that were solely based on the age of the visitor. The current cost structure is:

• Youth (17-under) - $5

• Adult (18-61) - $7

• Senior (62+) - $5

• 4 and Under – Free

Determining age is sometimes difficult, according to the recreation center. The new policy will be based solely on residency. This policy adheres to the center’s Fair Share Policy, which recognizes that Vandalia residents are already supporting the community with tax dollars and should receive a lower rate than the general public.

The new admission structure will be implemented on Tuesday, Nov. 1, and will be:

• Resident - $5

• Non-Resident - $8

To receive the lower rate, residents will need to show proof of residency, such as an ID with a Vandalia address or a utility bill paired with a photo ID. Once residency is established, a free Vandalia resident photo ID will be issued from the Rec Center, which will be valid for two years.
