Crowds will gather at 10 a.m. Oct. 1 for the official opening of the Training Ground, an outdoor fitness area sponsored by MPower Sport Performance.

There are training hills, pull up bars, and plyo boxes (heights 12”, 20”, and 28”). Difficulties on the workout equipment and aids vary.

“In addition to the training hill that has various angled slopes, the Training Ground also features 1,635 square feet of high quality turf,” said Jeff Kreill, Vandalia Parks and Recreation Superintendent. “On the turf we have two sections of pull-up bars, one at a height of 7’7”, the other at 8’2.”

The training additions have already been put to use, as trainers conducting boot camps, pee-wee football, and soccer teams have all been using the amenities to aid their workout training.
