The second fatal crash happened in Bellefontaine on the ramp from Route 540 to US Route 33. Police said an SUV hit a parked tow truck, killing a 16-year-old girl who was a passenger in the SUV.
The teen was identified as Nicole Price of Marysville. Authorities said she was a student at High Point Career Center.
Tim McVety with McJack Towing said, "They were swerving and going too fast, and they just smacked into me."
The roads became icy after a soaking rain turned to snow showers on Tuesday, causing them become slick.
According to police, there were at least 40 crashes in the county during the morning.
Trooper Kathy Durham from the Marysville OSP post said, "If you look outside and you can see power lines and trees and they are covered with snow, your bridges and overpasses are going to be frozen. "
The third crash, which was not a fatality, happened State Route 235 north of Quincy. Deputies said six people were in a van when the driver lost control on icy roads, flipping the van.
Two adults were taken by Careflight to Miami Valley Hospital. Four other people were taken by ambulance to Wilson Memorial Hospital, which included two adults and two children.
All the injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
