During a time where people’s way of daily living has been hindered by the impacts of COVID, the Civilian Health Promotion Services has gone virtual to help with your health and wellness needs.

The need for social distancing, following stay-at-home orders, teleworking and becoming an educator for your children are all factors that can greatly affect your health and wellbeing, both mentally and physically.

“Although our office is not physically open, we want to remind you that we are still here for you and are offering virtual services to meet your needs,” said Sara Carros, CHPS health promotion coordinator.

Those who are eligible to use CHPS services can receive a one-on-one phone call or e-mail from a staff member to receive guidance and solutions to health and wellness concerns and be provided resources to assist.

In addition to individualized counseling, if your workplace conducts telephone or video conference calls, CHPS can also teach a class during your next meeting. A variety of classes are available on topics such as healthy eating, physical activity and stress management.

Department of Defense civilian employees and active-duty members can also take an advantage of accessing free online tools at www.usafwellness.com for resources on how to reach your goals for a healthier and balanced life. The site allows you to complete a health risk assessment, help with setting goals, tracks daily nutrition and physical activity and provides tips on cooking. You can also stay connected with friends and coworkers by creating a wellness group.

CHPS is currently conducting a virtual activity challenge, “Minutes To Win It.” Active-duty and current DOD civilian personnel are eligible to participate. The challenge encourages the workforce to stay active while teleworking and sheltering at home. Participants will track active minutes by either entering them into their wellness account or by syncing the minutes to their wellness account via their wearable device.

The incentives will be earned for individuals who complete between 500 to 1,500 active minutes until the end of the challenge May 31. To sign up, please contact CHPS at CHPSsupport@us.af.mil.
