“The homeowners were actually in the basement at the time and they started to hear some weird noise so they decided to get out of there right away, and pretty much just as they came out the wall came down,” Fire Chief Colin Altman of the Miami Twp. Fire-Rescue.
Crews responded to the 4200 block around 4 p.m. and surrounded the home with yellow caution tape.
The family, who just recently moved into the house, is now displaced and is contacting their insurance company, Altman said.

A Greene County building inspector was called to determine the cause of the collapse.
“The best we can determine is that the volume of water coming across their driveway from the fields, from the rainstorm, must have weakened the dirt around the wall and caused it to collapse in,” he said.
