The contest is designed to inspire friends and families to come together to “Eat Up Every Moment,” the chain’s new advertising slogan.
Here’s how it works:
To enter to win free breakfast for a year, guests must post a picture of a memorable moment at an IHOP location, along with a caption, on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #IHOPMomentContest.
But time is running short: The deadline for posting is midnight Monday night, Oct. 17.
Twelve finalists' pictures will be selected and posted at http://ihopmoment.com.
The public will vote on their favorite “IHOP Moment” finalist photo, and the winner will be announced on or around Nov. 8.
“For nearly 60 years, our guests have celebrated memorable moments every day at IHOP and they have a sentimental connection with the brand,” Kirk Thompson, senior vice president of marketing for IHOP, said in a release. “They’ve been loyal fans and followers on our social media channels, so we wanted to recognize all they enjoy sharing during all those moments with an opportunity to delight in even more — on us — for an entire year.”
IHOP opened the first of a planned seven locations in the Dayton region late last year at 2460 N. Fairfield Road in Beavercreek. Franchise owners have other locations in the works in Springfield and Huber Heights, and recently proposed one in Vandalia as well.
The Dayton area had multiple IHOP locations in the 1970s and ’80s and today operates multiple franchise restaurants in the Columbus and Cincinnati markets. But prior to the opening of the Beavercreek restaurant, the closest IHOPs to Dayton are in West Chester, Mason and Richmond, Ind.
