‘I was trying to get ahold of my old lady’: Man leads Sugarcreek Twp. police on chase

A chase that began in Greene County and involved multiple departments ended near the Oregon District in Dayton last weekend.

Chad Hardin, 52, has been formally charged with failure to comply, fleeing and eluding and resisting arrest.  He also faces reckless operation and driving under suspension charges, records show.

The chase started after Bellbrook and Sugarcreek Twp. police spotted the vehicle Hardin was driving after it had fled from Greene County deputies around 11 a.m. Saturday.

The pursuit went along Lower Bellbrook and Feedwire roads before going into Kettering and finally into Dayton, where the chase ended in the 200 block of Bainbridge Street.

In body camera footage obtained through a public records request, officer said Hardin was running people off the road during the chase.

“I was just trying to get ahold of my old lady before I pulled over,” Hardin told police in the video

The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Sugarcreek Twp. police were able to arrest Hardin.

Hardin remains in the Greene County Jail.
