3 rescued from St. Marys River in Auglaize County

UPDATE @ 2:01 a.m: Three people were rescued from the St. Marys River this morning.

As a precaution, all three were transported to the ER for evaluation.

The first victim was out of the water when medical and fire units arrived on scene, officer in charge Curt Gabel said.

The second and third victims were pulled from the water by units from St. Marys Twp., Celina, and Auglaize County.

UPDATE @ 12:57 a.m.: Unconfirmed reports say as many as six people have been rescued from the St. Marys River early this morning.

At this time, medical conditions are unknown.

We are working to learn more and will update this story as more details become available.

INITIAL REPORT @ 12:19 a.m.: A water rescue is underway early today in the St. Marys River.

There was an unconfirmed report of as many as four people in the water, and rescuers had at least one boat in the water.

St. Marys police dispatch said they could not release any information at this time.

Crews initially around 12:15 a.m. were told to stage on U.S. 33 above the river.

The St. Marys Twp. Fire Department is among the agencies called.
