Some amateur sports in Ohio will be allowed to resume May 26, under a plan outlined Thursday at Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine’s press conference.

Those include what the state considers limited-contact and non-contact activities such as golf, softball, baseball, tennis and paddle sports.

Details on how those sports should be conducted will be posted on the state’s website by Friday at the latest.

The state also will offer guidance on activities such as disc golf, corn hole or bocce.

Gyms, fitness centers, dance studios and tennis clubs also will be allowed to reopen as long as they follow new protocols for social distancing and cleaning.

Not covered under the reopening plan are higher contact sports such as basketball, soccer, field hockey, hockey and lacrosse.

DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted said those details are still being worked on.
