In Montgomery and Greene counties, The U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program served toys to more than 12,000 children. Officials say many of the children helped were affected by the tornadoes, and the holiday season comes after a long, difficult year. WHIO-TV and several local businesses and non-profit organizations partnered with the U.S Marine Corps Reserve for the program.
"I would like to give a big thank you to Cox Media Group for the amazing support in helping us get the word out there and allowing us the privilege of supporting our community. Thank you to all the local businesses that signed up to be a drop off site. Because of your efforts, we were able to provide children with the gift of Christmas joy," said Gunnery Sergeant Luis Duran, Coordinator for Toys for Tots.
Toys were given out at distribution locations over the past few weeks. There are no more distribution events this season, but requests for toys can be made through the Toys for Tots website. Donations are also still being accepted. To donate or learn more, visit the organization's web site here: https://dayton-oh.toysfortots.org/
