A 19-year-old woman is dead and the granddaughter of Xenia Councilman Edgar Wallace is in jail charged with her murder.

Tre’Ana Larchelle Tarver died as the result of injuries she sustained from a stabbing late Saturday night in Wallace’s backyard in the 200 block of East Church Street.

The suspect — Wallace’s granddaughter, 21-year-old Tova Wallace-Lee — appeared Monday in Xenia Municipal Court. Councilman Wallace also attended the hearing. He said seeing his granddaughter in this situation “is painful.”

“Our hearts and prayers go out to the Tarver family. Needless to say, our family is hurting, but our family is hurting even more for the Tarver family,” Wallace said.

Xenia police said officers responded to the report of a fight at approximately 11:11 p.m. and found Tarver suffering from a stab wound.

Tarver was taken to Greene Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Wallace-Lee was arrested at the scene and is being held in the Greene County Jail on $200,000 bond.

Xenia police Capt. Alonzo Wilson said the suspect and victim knew each other and that Wallace-Lee was cooperative with officers when she was “taken into custody without any problems.”

“At this point we know the two had been involved in some type of disagreement over Facebook,” Wilson said. “It appears to be a jealous issue. This apparently had been brewing for some time.”

Police received at least three 911 calls reporting a fight, including one from the councilman.

“This is

Dr. Edgar Wallace, councilman, there's some girls out here … trying to attack my granddaughter. There's a fight going on right now. Would you please dispatch a unit?” Wallace said to an emergency dispatcher when he called shortly after 11 p.m.

The dispatcher asked how old his granddaughter was, to which he replied, “21,” according to the 911 records.

The dispatcher asked Wallace more questions, including how many people were involved and whether any weapons were involved.

With people shouting in the background, Wallace replied he was having trouble hearing the dispatcher.

“I don't know if there’re any weapons or not. I don't know I don't know. I was trying to go to sleep,” Wallace said to the dispatcher before the call was disconnected.

One caller, a female resident of the home, told the dispatcher there were five people involved in the fight. The caller reported one was “Tova Wallace,” but said she didn’t know the others’ names, according to the 911 record.

Another 911 caller told the dispatcher, “We need an ambulance!” but didn’t say anything more. The call continues and people can be heard crying in the background, others giving instructions “Keep the pressure on it. Keep the pressure on it,” according to police records.
