Woman in serious condition after Darke County crash

A victim of crash that occurred Friday in Darke Co. is listed in serious condition at Miami Valley Hospital.

The woman, identified as Suzanne Simon, 24, and her son were taken to the hospital after being struck by a Jeep Wrangler on Beamsville-Union City Road. Simon was flown to Miami Valley Hospital and was previously in critical condition.

Simon’s son was taken to Wayne HealthCare for an evaluation.

FIRST REPORT

A woman was critically injured in a Friday night crash that sent her and her young son to area hospitals.

Preliminary investigation shows a black 2011 Jeep Wrangler driven by Kyle D. Gower, 29, of Union City, Ohio, was east on Beamsville-Union  City Road just before 8 p.m. when he struck a 2006 Saturn Ion headed west as he attempted to pull into a private driveway.

The blue Ion, driven by Suzanne S. Simon, 24, of Greenville, and the Jeep came to rest off the roadway with heavy front-end damage.

Gower was treated at the scene and Simon was flown to Miami Valley Hospital, where she is listed in critical condition.

Simon’s young son was restrained in a child safety seat and was taken to Wayne HealthCare for an evaluation.

Gower was issued a citation for failure to yield when turning left.
