Wright State’s Boonshoft School of Medicine to have virtual graduation Saturday

Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine will have its first ever virtual graduation on Saturday, May 2.

The ceremony will be available via live stream at 2 p.m. with a graduating class of 103 medical students.

John Donnelly, professor of family medicine, will give the commencement address.

Throughout his career Donnelly has been a predoctoral director, family medicine clerkship director, preceptorship director, and residency program associate director.

He is a founding course director of the healer’s art court and finding meaning in medicine program, both of which focus on humanism and professionalism in medicine.

Many universities and high schools are delaying graduation or more the celebrations online due to the coronavirus pandemic and state orders that restrict public gatherings to 10 or less people.

Gov. Mike DeWine announced Wednesday that the state prefers online ceremonies or drive-by graduations where students have a designated time and location where they can pick up their diploma.
