>> Wright State president to retire after 2 years in office
President Cheryl B. Schrader announced earlier this month she will retire Dec. 31 after two years in office. During her run, she was forced to navigate the school’s financial and legal troubles and a 20-day union strike.
"After carefully considering the best options for the university and after discussing the matter with employee and student leaders, we believe Dr. Edwards is the right person to take the university forward," said Sean Fitzpatrick, chair of the Board of Trustees in a news release.
Trustees selected Edwards in an unanimous vote on Oct. 26.
Edwards has been provost since May 2018.
