WWE: 'Ultimate Warrior' dead at age 54

The Ultimate Warrior, known for his work with World Wrestling Entertainment, has passed away at age 54, according to WWE.

In a statement released late Tuesday, WWE said it "is shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of the most iconic WWE Superstars ever."

Warrior was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on Saturday night in New Orleans and appeared on the company's Monday night professional wrestling show "Monday Night Raw" Monday, just one day prior to his death.

The circumstances surrounding the 54-year-old's death were not immediately released by the organization, but TMZ reported Warrior collapsed outside an Arizona hotel Tuesday night while walking to his car with his wife and was transported to a local hospital, where he died.

Several WWE corporate officials tweeted their condolences late Tuesday.

WWE Chief Executive Officer, Vince McMahon, tweeted, "We are all so sad that the Ultimate Warrior has passed away. Our heart is with his wife Dana and his two daughters."

Warrior began his WWE career in 1987 and became the champion of the company at Wrestlemania VI, when he defeated Hulk Hogan, according to WWE.

"We are grateful that just days ago, Warrior had the opportunity to take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame and was also able to appear at Wrestlemania 30 and Monday Night Raw to address his legions of fans," the company said in a statement on its website.

Ultimate Warrior is survived by his wife Dana and his two daughters.
