2-year-old dies after being thrown from golf cart in Miami County

Miami County Sheriff’s deputies are investigation after a 2-year-old died Thursday after being ejected from a golf cart in Newton Twp.

Deputies responded to the 1700 block of Stitcher Road with Pleasant Hill fire and medical crews around 11:50 a.m.

The child was unresponsive and not breathing when emergency crews arrived.

CPR as administered and the child was taken to Dayton Children’s Hospital by CareFlight.

The child later died at the hospital.

A preliminary investigation revealed the child was sitting in the golf cart while his grandfather was driving on the family’s property.

The family’s dog ran into the path of the golf cart, causing the grandfather to swerve and brake to avoid the dog, according to deputies.

The child fell from the golf cart, hitting his head on the ground in the driveway area.

There was no evidence of drug or alcohol use, according to the sheriff’s office.
