A man is in stable condition after being shot in an alley on Tuesday afternoon behind a Springfield home.

Officers were dispatched around 11:38 a.m. to the 1600 block of South Limestone Street on a report of a shooting, according to a Springfield police report.

When police arrived, they found the gunshot victim lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to his backside.

“Reporting party said she was asleep and was awoke by the victim who said he ‘was just shot out back’,” the report stated.

The victim was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center, where he was then taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital.

Police said the victim was alert and conscious at the scene, the report stated.

The victim was in stable condition as of Wednesday afternoon, according to the hospital.

At the time of the shooting, a man also exited the residence in handcuffs and was taken into police custody, bit it is not clear if or how he is connected to the incident.
